Si-o-seh Pol, one of the world's most beautiful bridges (Allahverdi Khan Bridge).
Si-o-seh Pol spans the Zayandehrud River. We were watching the magnificent old columns as a group of teen boys was playing football in a green space by the river.
Our guide, a reprehensive of Isfahan Chamber of Commerce, explained to us part of the beauties and attractions of the famous bridge.
the bridge which was build in 1632 by the Safavids is one of the masterpieces of the Islamic Golden Age.
Shah Abbas-I tasked chancellor Allahverdi Khan Gorji [an ethnic Georgian] with overseeingthe construction of the bridge.
It is located at the intersection of Char Bagh (Four Royal Gardens) and Jolfa, a predominately Armenian neighborhood.
Si-o-seh Pol is the symbol of the city's cultural and artistic diversity. Its columns are cemented in a firm base.
As we set foot on the bridge, we felt the cool breeze on our bodies. The owners of cozy tea-houses on the bridge offered us hot drinks.
We closed our eyes and felt the smell of the past in the air, the smell of people of different tribal and religious backgrounds who had once crossed this bridge. It was very exciting.
The bridge seems to represent a brilliant track record of its constructors power and its sight was there right before our eyes.
